Automatic mode change / geofencing - what triggers?

I noticed an issue today. Someone arrived at my house and the timeline said it was me (it wasn’t) and no notification was sent. In fact I was some 10 miles away. How does Canary determine if I am home?

For more info, the carrier signal is very weak around my home but I can get my wifi signal just fine on my driveway.

Great question! The Canary app uses “geofencing” technology to determine if you’re home or not. This article from our Help Center goes into a little more detail about this:

How does Canary know when I’m home?

If the Canary app is reporting you arriving home when you’re away, you might want to make sure you’re not logged into the app on more than one smartphone or tablet. If you have a second person you want to give access, you’d want to add them as a Member so they have their own login.
